Human Resource Management in Personal Management
Question: Discuss about human resource management in personal management. Answer: Human Resource Management (HRM) is the process by which an organization manages its skilled workforce. It takes into account the responsibility of recruitment, selection, proper orientation and induction, performance and appraisal, providing compensation and benefits to motivate the staff, maintaining relation with the trade unions and labour force and also takes care of employees safety and health (Beer et al., 2014). Personal Management is a process of record keeping of the employees at an operational level like attendance, maintaining performance record, etc.. It involves the maintenance of fair terms and conditions of the personnel by efficiently managing their track records in every aspect. Both HRM and Personal Management have a narrow demarcation and is often used alternatively. Reference List Beer, M., Spector, B., Lawrence, P., Mills, D., Walton, R. (2014). Memories Of Sorrow Essays - Startup Cult, DraftAkib Alex
Memories Of Sorrow Somehow, it always seems that the most important memories are always hidden by some unknown force. I am almost certain to forget facial features or marking traits of someone special to me. If I try to remember, it is lost. Memories are not always an accurate recollection of the truth; sometimes they are not real at all. For whatever reason, people always seem to remember what they would like to believe the truth is. With all this in mind, I will share a personal recollection of my first romance. It was on a Friday during the winter months of my 8th grade year. If I recall correctly, which I always do, her name was Nicole. Her name, Greek for Victory of the People, always embedded such awe and mystery into my mind. The angelic Nicole stepped into my life on a cold day, as I sat there in my school bus after another long day. I was sleepy, like always, because I had gone to bed late the night before. Then as unexpected as snow in Brownsville, I saw her. She was a vision, her golden hair streaming down to her neck. Her eyes sparkled like a thousand stars. She was tall and lusciously curvy. She was so curvy that it was a danger to all of heavens minions. I still have never been as anxious to meet any one as I was meeting her. God, with his merciful divinity, had shined his light upon the earth and sprinkled the world with one true miracle, Nicole. What luck I had, she sat next to me! What was I going to do? I was always very uncertain with women. Sure they said they liked me, but I had never really had a girlfriend before. Due to some strange outwardly liar paradox, I remained quiet. How could I make a fool out of myself? As time passed, so did my fear. I slowly began to get more and more comfortable with her vast beauty so close to me. As time passed I gained more confidence due to our assigned seating, I gradually worked my way up the ranks from Hi, to Hello, and ultimately to the benchmark: Hi, how was your weekend? Nicole and I soon became very good friends on the bus, but my greed asked for more; I needed to have unlimited access. I soon plotted a way to get her phone number. If all worked out I was going to be the happiest person in the entire world. My plan was simple: strike with a cheap and cheesy pick up line. All I had to do was wait for the appropriate moment to strike. Almost like an axiom I saw the moment appear in front of me. It was now or never! I quickly blurted out, I lost my phone number, may I have yours? I still see the absurdity of that moment. Even now I laugh at myself and at how I could be so entirely childish in manner. At that moment the world had just stood still, I could have heard a cricket miles away. As I held my breath, I thought to myself: was she going to laugh at me, or was she going to give me her number? I didn't know, and honestly, I wasn't anxious to find out either. After a moment of her staring blankly at me, she let out a giggle and a smile and said sure. And that was it, I had done it. I was the happiest boy on that school bus. That day had been a total success. I hurried home to transfer the numbers off of my hand and onto some paper. I was not going to lose her number! As I jotted the numbers down I was hit with a terrifying thought, when was I going to call! I had never had a girls number before, at least not one who I was interested in. Was there an ethic to be followed? I let the weekend slide. Debating weather to call or not, I decided to wait for our Monday talk to ask. Monday arrived slower then expected. Time has a way of mocking a waiting person. When I ran up into the bus; I spotted her instantly. The back of the bus glowed in the radiance o her tender smile. She had a way of making the plain and dull

Essay Writing Tips For Writers
Essay Writing Tips For WritersIn one of my recent articles, I noted that some students are finding that they are not getting a lot of good English language and composition advice from their teachers. They were telling them that they should write an essay in English, while others were simply not putting any effort into writing the right kind of essay.I believe that the new resources available to English language and composition teachers are helping these students develop the skills they need for more effective writing. If you are thinking about writing an essay, these tips can help you achieve your goal faster. When you think about it, there are two major ways that people decide to write an essay in English. The first option is to try to make a point or solve a problem. The second option is to make a point but to do so in a way that allows others to understand what you have to say, and not overwhelm them with too much information. The important thing to remember is that if you want to m ake an essay that is read by many people, you must use the second option. It seems obvious, but if you choose to go that route, you may find that you do not have the ability to explain the point clearly enough for it to be understood. If you find that you cannot tell the reader what you are trying to get across in your essay, then you need to rethink your essay topic. If you want to draw attention to something, do it, but do not give too much information in your essay to make it difficult for others to understand. If you want to create a persuasive essay that can be picked up and read by many people, then you need to focus on a topic that many people already know a lot about. That way, when you talk about the topic, the rest of your essay is more likely to stick in the mind of your readers. Many people are simply unaware of certain facts, so if you can catch their attention by writing about them, you will have an advantage. Some students are turning to the Internet to find English lang uage and composition information. If you find that you are having difficulty coming up with the right kind of essay topic, consider joining a course that focuses on this subject.

The Four Porqués of Spanish
The Four 'Porquà ©s' of Spanish Although porque, por quà ©, por que, and porquà © have related meanings, they are not interchangeable. If you find them confusing as a Spanish student, youre in good company: Native speakers often write them incorrectly as well. Por Quà © Por quà © typically is used in questions, meaning why: à ¿Por quà © celebramos el 16 de septiembre? (Why do we celebrate September 16?)à ¿Por quà © estamos aquà ? (Why are we here?)à ¿Por quà © no citas tus fuentes? (Why dont you cite your sources?) Por quà © is also sometimes used in statements that form an indirect question. In such cases, it usually is still translated as why. Dime por quà © las noches son tan largas. (Tell me why the nights are so long.)Quiero saber por quà © se usa el prefijo www en las pginas Web. (I want to know why the prefix www is used for Web pages.) Porque Porque typically means because: Es simple porque se basa en el concepto de igualdad. (It is simple because it is based on the concept of equality.)Perdà ³nalos, porque no saben lo que hacen. (Forgive them, because they dont know what theyre doing.)Voy al restaurante porque tengo hambre. (Im going to the restaurant because Im hungry.)- à ¿Por quà © sales? - Porque estoy aburrida. (Why are you leaving? Because Im bored.) Por quà © and porque are far more common than the following two usages. If youre a beginner at Spanish you can probably safely stop here. Por Que Por que occurs when que as a relative pronoun follows the preposition por. If that sounds confusing, think of por que as meaning for which, although it is often translated as that or why. Esa es la razà ³n por que he querido salir. (That is why I wanted to leave. Literally, that is the reason for which I wanted to leave.)El motivo por que llegà ³ tarde fue el paro de buses. (He arrived late because of the bus stoppage. Literally, the reason for which he arrived late was the bus stoppage.) Por que also occurs when que follows a verb phrase using por. For example, the phrase for to worry about is preocuparse por. Here is an example where the phrase is followed by que: Se preocupa por que las soluciones sean incompatibles. (She is worried that the solutions will be incompatible.) Porquà © Finally, porquà © is a masculine noun, meaning reason, much like using why as a noun in English: No comprendo el porquà © de la violencia domà ©stica. (I dont understand the reason for domestic violence.)Estn acostumbrados a tomar decisiones, no a explicar los porquà ©s. (They are used to making decisions, not at explaining the reasons.)

Battle of Corunna - Napoleonic Wars Battle of Corunna
Battle of Corunna - Napoleonic Wars Battle of Corunna Battle of Corunna - Conflict: The Battle of Corunna was part of the Peninsular War, which was in turn part of the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815). Battle of Corunna - Date: Sir John Moore held off the French on January 16, 1809. Armies Commanders: British Sir John Moore16,000 infantry9 guns French Marshal Nicolas Jean de Dieu Soult12,000 infantry4,000 cavalry20 guns Battle of Corunna - Background: Following the recall of Sir Arthur Wellesley after the signing of the Convention of Cintra in 1808, command of British forces in Spain devolved to Sir John Moore. Commanding 23,000 men, Moore advanced to Salamanca with the goal of supporting the Spanish armies that were opposing Napoleon. Arriving in the city, he learned that the French had defeated the Spanish which jeopardized his position. Reluctant to abandon his allies, Moore pressed on to Valladolid to attack the corps of Marshal Nicolas Jean de Dieu Soult. As he neared, reports were received that Napoleon was moving against him the bulk of the French army. Battle of Corunna - British Retreat: Outnumbered more than two-to-one, Moore began a lengthy withdrawal towards Corunna in the northwest corner of Spain. There the ships of the Royal Navy waited to evacuate his men. As the British retreated, Napoleon turned the pursuit over to Soult. Moving through the mountains in cold weather, the British retreat was one of great hardship that saw discipline break down. Soldiers looted Spanish villages and many became drunk and were left for the French. As Moores men marched, General Henry Pagets cavalry and Colonel Robert Craufurds infantry fought several rearguard actions with Soults men. Arriving at Corunna with 16,000 men on January 11, 1809, the exhausted British were shocked to find the harbor empty. After waiting four days, the transports finally arrived from Vigo. While Moore planned the evacuation of his men, Soults corps approached the port. To block the French advance, Moore formed his men south of Corunna between the village of Elvina and the shoreline. Late on the 15th, 500 French light infantry drove the British from their advance positions on the hills of Palavea and Penasquedo, while other columns pushed the 51st Regiment of Foot back up the heights of Monte Mero. Battle of Corunna - Soult Strikes: On the following day, Soult launched a general assault on the British lines with an emphasis on Elvina. After pushing the British out of the village, the French were promptly counterattacked by the 42nd Highlanders (Black Watch) and the 50th Foot. The British were able to retake the village, however their position was precarious. A subsequent French attack forced the 50th to retreat, causing the 42nd to follow. Personally leading his men forward, Moore and the two regiments charged back into Elvina. Fighting was hand-to-hand and the British drove the French out at the point of the bayonet. At the moment of victory, Moore was struck down when a cannon ball hit him in the chest. With night falling, the final French attack was beaten back by Pagets cavalry. During the night and morning, the British withdrew to their transports with the operation protected by the guns of the fleet and the small Spanish garrison in Corunna. With the evacuation complete, the British set sail for England. Aftermath of the Battle of Corunna: British casualties for the Battle of Corunna were 800-900 dead and wounded. Soults corps suffered 1,400-1,500 dead and wounded. While the British won a tactical victory at Corunna, the French had succeeded in driving their opponents from Spain. The Corunna campaign exposed issues with the British system of supply in Spain as well as a general lack of communication between them and their allies. These were addressed when the British returned to Portugal in May 1809, under the command of Sir Arthur Wellesley. Selected Sources British Battles: Battle of CorunnaBattle of Corunna

Rise and Fall of the Qin Dynasty Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Rise and Fall of the Qin Dynasty - Essay Example In 225, the King of Wei surrendered where all of his territories were annexed to Qin dynasty. It was followed by the defeat of the Kingdom of Chu in 223 BC where its King was eventually killed and its General committed suicide. A year later, the Yan territory was taken until finally in 221, the last King of other warring states was captured with the seizure of the King of Qi (Portal 32-35). For the first time, ancient China was unified under a single leadership with Qin Shi Huang at the helm declaring himself as the first emperor of China (Portal 32-35). Qin dynastyââ¬â¢s rose to prominence as the first dynasty to unify China is a huge achievement considering that it started from a humble beginning. Qin dynasty begun when the last heir of the Zhou dynasty gave land to one of its Dukes, Duke Zhuang which enabled the Qins to start as one of ancient Chinaââ¬â¢s vassal lords. Later, the small land granted by the Zhou dynasty expanded when Duke Zhuangââ¬â¢s son embarked on expans ionary quest that eventually established the State of Qin (Yu 15). The Qin dynastyââ¬â¢s reign however was short lived lasting only for 15 years from 221 until 207 BC. Despite this short period of Qin dynastyââ¬â¢s existence, it left a lasting legacy in China that even its name as a country was derived from this dynasty. Unification of China In 221 AD, the Qin dynasty through the leadership of Qin Shi Huang finally emerged as the victor during the period of warring states through its superior and fierce military. Immediately after its victory Qin Shi Huang installed himself as the first emperor of China which unified China under one ruler for the first time. Qin Shi Huang first directive as the emperor of China was to initiate reforms such as the improvement of the administration of its bureaucracy with the establishment of shi bureaucracy where educated bureaucrats were tasked to administer the various functions of the regime. The nature of military also changed when the vass al warriors under the former warring monarchs eventually faded in significance when they were replaced by the conscription of peasants who were previously imprisoned. Implementation of Reforms The reforms initiated by the Qin dynasty yielded to the increase of collection of funds and this afforded the regime to improve its military capability by building the size of the army and further improve the technology of its weapons. This increased military capability provided the Qin dynasty the advantage to defeat other kingdoms during the period of warring states and eventually unified it to make it the China that we know today. The Legalist Sanction One of the systems employed by the Qin dynasty that made it an effective state and perhaps even became precursor of the present idea of nation state is the use of legalist sanction. Legalist sanction was the basis of the despotic regime of Qin dynasty. This legalist thought was founded by Shang Yang who espoused that people should be subservi ent to the state but the state must also be ruled by law without exemption that even its rulers are subjected to it (Yu 80). Following this absolutist principle, the Qin dynasty believed that it is the foremost duty of any leader to increase the power and wealth of the state. Legalist sanction also imposes that for a state to be orderly it has to employ strict laws to create social stability. The legalist sanction w

Religious Teachings and Business Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Religious Teachings and Business Ethics - Essay Example The Utilitarian approach holds to the idea that societies should strive for the best for the most people. Jeremy Bentham eighteenth-century philosopher wrote, "The greatest happiness of the greatest number is the foundation of morals and legislation" (Fisher & Lovell 2003, p. 95). The writer/philosopher John Stuart Mills also wrote extensively on Utilitarianism (Daft 2005). Individualism is viewed as the essentially opposite of Utilitarianism. The Individual approach maintains that right moral choices lead to what is in the best long-term interest of the individual. German economist and sociologist Max Weber's influential essays on capitalism emphasized individual efforts and the accumulation of personal wealth (The Free Encyclopaedia 2007). The Moral Right approach values fundamental human rights and identifies six moral subcategories; free consent, right to privacy, right to freedom, of conscious, right to free speech, right to due process and the right to life and safety (Daft 200 5). Finally, the Justice approach promotes the idea of moral decision making and is based on standards of equity, fairness, and impartiality. Daft identifies three distinct forms of justice(2007). Distributive justice governs the right of people to be treated fairly without discrimination based on arbitrary characteristics. Procedural justice proscribes that rules should be applied consistently and compensatory justice argues that people should be compensated for injury and loss (Daft 2007). Certainly, all four of these perspectives can be identified in most major world religions. In order to set a proper stage for the discussion of religion and its place in business ethics, it is important to provide an overview of the historical influences on the matter. One of the first moral codes to impact mankind stemmed from the religious society of Judaism. In the books of the Bible, there are plentiful references as to how the faithful should conduct themselves in relation to their neighbors, family, and friends. The figures in the Old and New Testaments of Bible; Solomon, David, Moses, and Jesus of Nazareth; were most certainly well known for their ethical teachings. Important philosophers and ethical teachers can be identified throughout human history.Ã Ã
